William “Big Boy” Purvis, 95, of Paducah died on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Parkview Nursing & Rehab in Paducah.
Mr. Purvis was a retired oil man from IL Central Railroad and a deputy jailer from McCracken County Jail. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Sunny Slope Church of Christ.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth Purvis of Paducah; four children, Susan Purvis of Marion, Patricia Baker of Paducah, Paul Purvis of Paducah, and Ray Purvis of Paducah; one brother, Melvin Purvis; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. Purvis and Lille Purvis; four sisters; and six brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Lindsey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Alzheimer’s Association at 6100 Dutchmans Lane Suite 401 Louisville, KY 40205-3284.
